the BUC's was just amazing!!
We've never worked so hard or been so proud to hold an event - The 2009 student champs was a massive success!!! Over three days 600+ students had the park, camp site and uplift all to themselves (who says students have it easy ehh?). The conditions were dry making the DH & XC super fast - it been so dry it was like summer. We had also laid on a big catering set up, beer tent, music and bonfire also throwin for good measure was some crazy floodlit 4X racing on the Saturday night!!! I didn't get to see any DH racing (as I was driving the uplift lorries) but got a peak at the XC on the Sunday... Seeing 200+ riders all crank it into the single track, up the 4x and race down the duel course was great fun standing on the start platform. The biggest spectacle was watching the XCer's tackle/overtake on the big rooty section after the drop on big grin. About 100 odd DHer's had gathered round with fog horns and cans of beer/monster all jeering the riders - those that went for it got cheered, those didn't got booed - awesome......
BIG thanks to Extremely Medics, Ben for the timing, Monster for making uplift more enjoyable and the dedicated army of hardcore helpers who do all the boring stuff behind the scenes that make it happen..
