UKBIKEPARK & TORICO DH RACE £100 TOP PRIZE

We have been getting a lot of requests from riders to promote a cheaper series and there has been a lot of talk on internet forums about running a non uplift race.So we have decided to put on a race on the 14th December. All the usual bikepark features will be there including mums cake and some special on the day only offers from Torico (Maxxis tyres and THE helmet deals ). We will be running a race later in the winter with BC ranking points but not this one

Prizes - We are offering £100 for the fastest time of the day and winners in each category will also get £20 cash (not vouchers, hard cash!) Other prodium prizes will be supplied by ukbikepark and torico.

Location - Ukbikepark is fast being established as one of the best places to ride in the south. The track we are using will be one of the more technically challenging tracks. For those that know, it will most likely be devils dyke. With a winning time of about 1 min 30 expected 2 mins for your average senior. The course is the closest to the push up track and should enable plenty of sessioning and riding before your race runs. Parking is in the top field as usual - we will have toilets on site and plenty of warm food. There is NO camping this event (who wants to in all the mud & cold!!??)

Race entry is going to be £18 until the 1st decmeber, then £20 until the 7th December and £30 upto and on the day - but we would encourage you to book up early as it's going to popular!! Race entry is limited to 200 riders and can be done via www.ukbikepark.com or pay by cheque made payable to Ukbikepark, send to Ukbikepark, 19 Chatsworth Road, Parkstone, Poole, Dorset, BH14 OQL - you will only be entered once the payment has cleared which could take up to 7 working days

7.30 registration opens registration closes at 10.00 am – on the day entries will not be accepted after 10.00am

8.00 course is open for inspection and practice

12.00 race runs start

16.00 podium presentations

17.00 Eat plenty of cake (option available all day!!)

Marshalls and first aid - First aiders will be on stand by supplied by the Red Cross with their ambulance. If you would like to marshall, please contact Ben at torico on 01258 473770. All marshals are provided with a packed lunch and free race entry (or uplift day pass) this can be used by the marshal or redeemed by someone else. We always have a hardcore few that marshal and we are as usual very thankful for your contribution. We need volunteers though, I feel guilty bullying people into it!!!! We have a massive building plan worked out for the coming six months all biased around the BUCS. This will include a top to bottom rework of the downhill track - we can confirm that the DH race run will be down Devils Dyke which is the most technically challenging at the park - especially in the wet! (more tech/rocks/rocks etc better & bigger finish), reworking the 4X track, berm bandit into mini duel course and lots of mini trails aimed at beginners. The XC course will be out in the other woodland which has tons of potential to create a real blaster of a track.

The uplift trucks will be improved and further vehicles & trailers added to increase capacity. Hot food will be onsite along with lots of covered space with seating, a big fire pit, camping (best views in Dorset - you can see 7 counties!) - and don't forget - you can play on the rest of park with another 6 DH runs, north shore & the now famous Dakine Ladder Ally!

Breaking with tradition the venue is all sorted! The 2009 BUCS MTB championships on the 20-22nd March 2009 will be held at UK BIKE PARK in the south west.

This site meets all the criteria set by BUCS for the event and meets the social needs that Cwmcarn could not. Camping will be available from the Thursday evening and is in a big field with its own parking, cafe (top cake!), marquee, music and a large fire pit with supplied wood! Uplift for DH will run for longer than usual on the Friday practice so more riding for those arriving early. The DH course is 2 minutes + long (Winning race time of Will Soffe at recent event).

The XC course is being built this winter by the site operators in conjunction with the FC and will be a traditional approx 6 mile lap. There will be floodlit 4X racing on the NPS course Saturday evening for all riders to try it out! There will be a bike shop and 3 makes of demo bikes on site. Sponsors (some big names interested) to be announced ASAP.
